Christmas.....Finally!

I wrote this post before I realized I couldn't upload pictures.  Enjoy the photo dump!

It is no secret that I am the world's worst blogger.  I just can't keep up with life these days.  Savannah and I have been so sick for the past few weeks.  It all started with a fever on Christmas Eve with Savannah.  She has a cough, head congestion & now pink eye.  I have had a migraine, cough & awful sinus pressure & congestion.  I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired.  {knock on wood} they boys have somehow stayed healthy & let's pray they don't get these germs!

Our Elf on a Shelf brought Christmas pj's & 'Twas Night Before Christmas book

We decided to do things a little different this Christmas.  The past few years have been so hectic and crazy with running here and running there.  We decided to keep things more quiet and enjoyable.  We had planned on going to Christmas service at my church together and then come home to just enjoy each other.  Then Savannah got sick.  So skipped church so she could relax and rest.

Poor little sickie fell asleep on the couch

Christmas lists, cookies & milk for Santa

Ha!  Shane wanted a cookie

Sprinkling reindeer food on the roof outside her window to help attract Santa & his crew

We cuddled up together and read 'Twas Night Before Christmas

Santa came!!!

Christmas morning

On Christmas morning we were going to open our gifts and then get ready to celebrate the day with Jay's whole family.  Savannah and I had to stay home so she could lay low and nap.  She still had a pretty high fever.  We were so bummed but enjoyed a quiet day together.

The weekend before Christmas my sister & her husband came to celebrate the holiday with our family.  They live 6 hours away so we don't get to see them as often as we would like.  We hosted a brunch at our house that Saturday.  We also had my parents & my grandmother.  We ate, exchanged gifts & enjoyed each other's company.  It was a great time!

On Sunday my brother in law took Savannah & Shane's pictures.  We wanted pictures to be used on their birthday invitations & Shane had a cake smash session.  He rocked it like I knew he would!

Haha!  I LOVE this one!

Back in Business

OK so it looks like I am back in business with posting pictures!  Yay!  Blogging is so much more fun when you can share pictures.  I just had to turn off a pop up blocker.

Our house has been super sick these last few weeks.  Savannah was sick over Christmas, got pink eye during her first week back at school after Christmas break and then I got an awful head cold that last for two weeks.  Since Shane is still nursing, I don't take any medication other then Tyle.nol.  Last Friday, Shane started feeling sick and it has been all down hill ever since.  I think we are finally (knock on wood) on the road to recovery.

Shane started feeling sick on a Friday and I brought him to the Pedi to have his breathing checked.  He was breathing weird but it turned out it was just a result of the fever he had.  They listened to his lungs and checked his ears and both were fine.  He got worse and worse as the days went on.  That Monday night he wouldn't sleep in his bed.  He just cried, cried and cried (and got a bloody nose) so I held him on my chest on the couch all.night.long.  He slept well but I didn't sleep a wink.  When he woke up one of his eyes was crusted totally shut.  We brought him back to the doctor that morning (Tuesday) and he had two ear infections & pink eye in both eyes.  I was actually releived that he had the ear infection beacuse I honsetly didn't know what to do to help him.  I felt like he needed medication but I know many viruses don't react to meds & you just have to let them run their course.  I was stupid and thought the meds would help within a few hours but it took a full 48 freaking hours until they helped with his pain.  We were still giving him Tylenol but it wasn't helping him when he would lay down.  I even drove around with him in the car for 2 hours so he could sleep in his carseat.  We had to sleep with him on the couch for another 3 nights.  I did the second night and Jay did the last two because I wanted to die.  Jay said he slept decent on the couch.  Savannah was sent home from school on Wednesday with pink eye & Jay woke up with it on Thursday.  Thankfully I never cough it.  I did end up with another horrible head cold and Jay now does also.  I swear to you this is because of Pre-School.  Savannah got the stomach bug 1 time before she started school but other than that was 100% healthy for her first 3 years of life.

It broke my heart to see my little buddy like this.

The only good thing about Shane being sick was all the snuggles we got.  This boy has never been a big snuggler so it was great to hold him and just on love him.

He stood up for a long time when he started feeling better!
So proud of you Bubba!

Jay brought me home a dozen roses one day after work because he felt so bad for me.  Taking care of a miserable sick baby for 7 days is so draining!  I really appreciated that since he only gets me flowers on holidays.  Also, he lined up his parents to watch the kids today so we could have a day date.  We went to lunch at my favorite Mexican restaraunt, then grocery shopping at Tra.der Jo.e's & we stopped at a coffee house and enjoyed a coffee & dessert.  It was amazeballs!

Shane's 1st Birthday

On Sunday, January 13th, our baby boy turned 1!  I still cannot believe that he is 1.

When Shane woke up we had a special family birthday breakfast at home and then opened gifts.  Savannah picked out the Le.go Farm since Le.go's are Shane's current favorite toy.  Our big gift to Shane is his own Anyw.here Chair from Po.ttery Ba.rn Ki.ds but they are on back order from Christmas.

That evening we had our parents, grandparents, my brother-in-law & his girlfriend over for a small dinner party.  We had spaghetti with meatballs & sausage, a yummy salad followed by cake and ice cream.  Shane had a wonderful time & really enjoyed his special day!

We will be having a party on February 10th with our extended family & friends for both Savannah & Shane since their birthday's are only 6 weeks apart. Birthday parties are so expensive and I like to go all out so I figured we would combine them until Savannah was a little older to help keep the cost down as much as we can & everyone is always so busy.

Trying Cloth

Dudes!  I am about to give cloth diapering a try!  I honestly can't believe it.  I am so excited!  I wanted to try cloth when I was pregnant with Shane but I wasn't sure how I would do adjusting to a second baby & taking on more laundry didn't make it on the pro side of my list.

Jen at Miller Musings has been doing a few cloth diaper posts (check her blog out!  It's one of my favorites) that really got me thinking maybe it wasn't too late to give it a try.  I soooooooo HATE buying diapers every month.  I feel like we are taking $50+ and throwing it in the trash-because that's exactly what we are doing.

After some research, and q & a's with a few friends, I have decided to give it a go!  I just ordered 3 different diapers to try (per advisement of friends) so I can see which diaper works best for us prior to making the investment.

All of the diapers were on sale so I got them all for $50.29.  That is super cheep I guess for cloth.  I got a BumGenius 4.0 pocket(with the snaps) ($17.95), a FuzziBunz Elite pocket ($16.95) & a Charlie Banana one size ($15.39) in a super cute robot pattern.  I ordered from Dia.pers.com so my diapers will be delivered tomorrow.

Hopefully I can get this damn picture situation figured out soon so I can share pictures with you of my little diaper dude!  So excited!  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Thank you so much Kelly & Fiona for answering all my diaper dumb question.  It's so dang confusing!
