Newborn Pictures

On Saturday I had Shane's newborn pictures taken.  Here are a few that the photographer posted on Face.book.  I wish I could share the whole session with you!

All together we have over 30 pictures we have to try and choose from.  It is going to be very difficult to decide what pictures to order.  The second to last picture is my favorite.  It really captures Shane's super sweet personality.  He ALWAYS has his little brow all wrinkled up.  My little sweetheart!  I just love him to pieces!

2 Weeks ***Update with Pictures***

I cannot believe I am sitting here already writing your two week post!  This past week has just flown by.  I have really enjoyed every single second I have spent with you over your two weeks of life.  You are such a sweet sweet little boy.  I call you "my little sweetheart".  The way you look at me melts my heart.  I could snuggle you forever and it depresses me to think that you will grow up so fast.  You are very laid back and relaxed unless you are hungry or in need of a clean diaper.

Sleep:   I am happy to report that you are still a great sleeper!  You usually wake in the morning between 6-7 and stay awake for 1-2 hours.  I hold you, lay you in your Bop.py or put you in your bouncy seat.  Sometimes you fall asleep but you usually just look around contently.  I will change you and feed you and you will fall asleep for about 3 hours.  You will wake to be changed and fed again and then you are off to dreamland yet again.  You will wake up around dinner time for another 1-2 hours and then repeat the above schedule.  For some reason this week you have been sleeping great until 12-1am then you wake every hour or two to eat.  I don't mind so much but Daddy isn't enjoying this too much.  Last night you slept perfectly for us.  You woke to eat every 3hours and went right back to sleep when you were done.  My little angel!

Feed:  See above.  Basically every 3 hours however sometimes sooner.  You are a champion nurser and make me very proud.  For some reason while I was pregnant I was so worried that maybe you wouldn't like nursing or wouldn't be able to for some crazy reason.  I LOVE breastfeeding so I really hope you nurse forever for long time and I am already dreading the day you don't want me anymore.  I know you are my last baby so I hope you nurse for a very long time!  Also nothing is more rewarding to know that I nourished you and helped you grow to a big strong boy.

Weight:  1-13: 8lbs 5 oz.
                   1-16: 8lbs 0.04oz.
                   1-19: 8lbs. 4oz.
                   1-26: 8lbs. 7oz.

Length:  1-13: 21 1/2 inches (you haven't been measured again since)

Diaper Size:  Newborn

Clothes Size:  Newborn

Hair Color:  Brown

Eye color:  Blue

Funniest moment:  I had your newborn pictures taken this past Sunday morning.  The photographer came to our house so that was great!  I was slightly concerned to have you take naked photo's since you like to surprise us with bodily fluids so oftem.  Well you did great until the end.  We took a picture of you just wearing a little tie and right after Olivia snapped your picture you peed all over the place!  Good thing all of her props are washable!

Milestone:  You lost your umbilical cord stump on Tuesday so you were able to have your first big boy tubby on Wednesday.

Firsts:  Daddy went back to work on Monday so it has been just you, Me & Sissy this week.  We have been getting by just fine.  After dropping Sissy off at school on Tuesday you and I went grocery shopping for the first time.  You slept in you carseat the whole time.  You have started napping during the day in your crib.

Check-ups:  Yesterday you had your 2 week check-up with Dr. Jamie and you were hungry when you woke up.  You SCREAMED the whole appointment.  As soon as we were done and you were able to eat you were as happy as could be and were sleeping again before my car left the parking lot.  At your appointment Dr. Jamie checked your unbilical coard area.  She cleaned it well with alchohol and then put some type of solution on it to help dry out the inside.  We were instructed not to give you a tubby for 2 days.  You will go back in two weeks for your 1 month check-up.

Mommy:  Mommy is still doing great.  I don't really have anything to report on other than my weight.  I am down to 143.8 which means I have lost 20lbs in the past two weeks.  Even the weight loss is easier this time around.  I only have 13.8 more pounds to go and I am not really in any rush.  I would rather not restrict myself too much and I don't have to worry about my milk supply.  I am eating as many healthy foods as I can.  Lots of meat, fish (trying for 2x weekly), fruit & veggies.  Staying away from sweets is a little had but that's all I have really been trying to cut out.  I am really looking forward to exercising when I get the clear in a few more weeks.  I want to try and do the Co.uch to 5.K Program & 200 S.it-u.p's Program.  I would like to tone up a bit for the summer.

Other stuff:  Savannah has continued to adjust well to her new role as big sister.  She has a little trouble at times giving you space.  She likes to get right up in your face when she talks to you.  She also like to touch your face and mouth so we are learning about germs and only rubbing your arm or body.  She loves you to peices and is so happy you are here.

Newborn Pictures

Today Shane had his newborn pictures taken at 9 days old.  He was such a good little boy!  I wasn't really sure how they would go seeing he had to be naked and he likes to surprise you sometimes while changing his diaper.  He only had 1 pee accident.  The photographer was at our house for a little over 2 hours and took lots and lots of pictures.  She posted this one on Fa.ce.bo.ok as a tease.  The rest wont be ready for viewing until midweek.  The suspense is gonna kill me!

Mommy post

I am going to do a "How's Mommy doing" post.  I had not really thought of doing one because I am feeling so well.

It is amazing to me how much easier this recovery is than Savannah's.  I seriously don't even feel like I just had a baby.  With Savannah I was VERY sore "down there" for weeks.  I remember even being scared to go for my 6 week check up in fear it would hurt.  I would say I am about 90% in that area.  I am still bleeding but very lightly.  I pushed for about 7-8 contractions this time around (3-4 with Sav), Shane was 7oz. more but also a 1/2 in. longer & I was cut and needed stitches for both.  I did have some lower right side back pain for about 5 days.  I was told by the nurse at the hospital that I probably had swelling inside my back at the epidural sight.  This was rather painful but had subsided.

Breastfeeding has been a breeze this time around again.  Shane has had a beautiful latch right from the start.  My only complaint is that I think my body thinks I had twins.  OUCH I have a lot of milk.  My boob are freaking HUGE!  My milk cam in very quickly (within 3 days) and I think my body is still adjusting.  I still feel VERY full most of the time.  I don't feel pain when he firsts starts nursing like I did with Sav.

I have 17 pounds to loose as of yesterday (I didn't weigh myself this morning).  Today when I got out of the shower Jay said he didn't know how I still needed to loose 17lbs because I looked so small (thanks hunny!).  I know he wasn't trying t butter me up since I won't be do anything until I have my check-up in 5 weeks.

Shane has been such a great sleeper at night that I don't feel at all sleep deprived.  Last night he went to bed at 8:30pm (we went to bed at 9:30pm) and woke at 12:30am.  He feeds and then falls right back to sleep at night.  He then slept until 3:30am and was back sleeping by 4am until 6:45am.  I know this is more than likely going to change as he gets older so we are more than enjoying our sleep while we can.

Jay has been home this past week so we have been able to keep up around the house just fine.  I am kinda worried about how things will go when we settle into our new normal but we will make it work.  Jay has also been doing all of the cooking and meal clean up.

Mentally for us the second baby has been so much easier than the first.  With the first I was so worried about a million and one things going wrong.  I wasn't able to fully enjoy her because I was so paranoid all of the time.  This time we are far more relaxed and it has been wonderful.  We don't even have the An.gel.care Bre.ath.ing Sen.sor set up in the pack n' play (it is in his crib in his room).  I would have flipped my lid if I didn't have it for Savannah.  We don't hold him 24/7 like we did her & he only sleeps in his crib or pack n' play).  When he falls asleep he goes into his bed so we are able to do things around the house or spend time with Savannah.  Hopefully we skip over a few bad sleeping habits by doing this.

1 Week

I can't believe that my baby boy has been with us for a week already!  The week has really flown by.  Jay has been home with us all week so I have had a lot of help.  I don't even want to think of how things will be when he goes back on Monday.

I will do a post with Shane's birth story as soon as I can.  I want to try and do weekly posts on how things are going for 4-6 weeks then I will do them monthly.

Sleep:  I am sure it is because you are only 1 week old but you are an amazing sleeper!  You wake in the morning for a feeding and then normally sleep again for 3-4 hours.  Wake again, eat again and sleep for another 3-4 hours.  For the past two days you have stayed awake in the morning for about 30-60 minutes in the morning.  You just look around at everything and take it all in.  As soon as you fall asleep we put you in your pack n' play in Mommy's closet.  (My closet is HUGE - It's about 4x the size of our 1/2 bath.  This sleeping arrangement works well because we close our bedroom door at night and when Shane wakes at night Savannah doesn't hear a thing.)  Last night Shane fed at/fell asleep at 7:30pm-1:30am.  Woke to feed again then fell asleep again from 2am-4:30am.  Woke to feed at 6:45am and stayed up for a while looking around.  I know letting him go 6hours between feedings is alot but he is already back up to his birth weight by gaining on average 1oz. pr day.  Dr. Jamie said they like to see them back to birth weight by two weeks of age.

Feed:  See above - Basically you eat every 3-4 hours.  You L-O-V-E to eat but always fall asleep after aout 15 minutes.  I have started pumping 2 oz from each side in the afternoon for the freezer because I swear my body thinks I have a bunch of babies to feed.  I know the more I pump the more I will make but it is nice to stock up while we can.

Weight:  1-13: 8lbs 5 oz.
                   1-16: 8lbs 0.04oz.
                   1-19: 8lbs. 4oz.

Length:  1-13: 21 1/2 inches  and he hasn't been measured again since

Diaper Size:  Newborn

Clothes Size:  Newborn

Hair Color:  Brown

Eye color:  Blue

Funniest moment:  Well we find this as funny as we don't-half of the time when we change your diaper you poop or pee while we are changing you.  You can be a messy messy boy.  You can't help but laugh!

Milestone:  Your very first milestone would be that you have gone from eating every 3 hours to every 4.  We were told yesterday at your check-up that you're all healed up from your "boy" procedure you had done at 1 day old.
Firsts:  You had your very first sponge bath 2 nights ago.  You didn't really enjoy it very much but we weren't expecting that you would.  You really only cry when you are naked.

Check-ups:  You went on Monday the 16th and saw Dr. Gon.roff.  The nurse weighed you and took your tempature.  Dr. G then checked you all out and said the only thing she noticed was a slight "click" in your right hip.  She said it only showed it on every 3rd movement.  She said at the time it was nothing to be concerned with at this point but that they would watch it.  You were seen yesterday, Thursday the 19th by Dr. Jamie who we absolutely LOVE seeing.  She said your boy part was all healed up (no more gauze needed) and that she didn't detect any clicking in your hip.  Dr. Jamie reccomends you take a liquid Vitamin D suppliment since you are strictly breastfed.  We go back next Thursday the 26th for another check-up with Dr. Jamie.  Your primary is Dr. Mor.ris (she was also Mommy's doctor as a child) but she only works part time and it is rather difficult to get an appointment with her.  We would have Dr. Jamie as you & sissy's primary but she doesn't have her own patient list.

Mommy:  Mommy is doing very well.  I am hardly sore at this point.  Recovery was far easier the second time around that's for darn sure.  I did receive stitches but I don't any pain in that area anymore.  I would say I am about 75% "down there".  I am still bleeding but it is relatively light.  I am still taking the stool softener just to be on the safe side.  I haven't had any trouble but I would like to keep things that way.  As of 40 weeks my weight was up to 163.6 and as of today I am down to 147.2 (and this was first thing this morning with 2 VERY FULL boobs).

Other stuff:  Sissy has been having a little trouble adjusting to our new addition.  She hasn't acted out or shown any jealously towards you but her behavior has gone a little down hill.  I think this is a combination of having a new baby and having daddy home for the week.  Savannah has been giving us trouble daily going to nap and bed.  She will say she isn'g going to bed because she isn't tired when she is.  She will yell, scram & hit her door (basically a temper tantrum).  Jay has been dealing with this but today I am going to start handling nap since I will be here alone daily (wish me luck!).  Jay has been taking all of her animals, blankets & pillows out of her bed and telling her she can have them back when she is ready to go to bed.  The first night she screamed for an hour, second night 15 minutes and each night has been less and less (now down to 5 minutes last night).  We are making progress but we will have some work to do.

We have been having so many visitors it's crazy.  It is nice to show off our new little man but this makes it very hard for us to try and get into a new routine.  Hopefully things will dye down a little after the weekend.  All of these visitors have come with TONS of gifts.  Shane now has far more clothes than he will probally ever be able to wear.

Still pregnant

I am still here and still pregnant.  No sign of baby as of yet.  I went for my Non-Stress Test, U/S & regular appointment this morning.  Everything checked out a-ok.  The stress test showed that our baby boy is nice and comfortable in the belly still.  The u/s showed that he has great fluid and is an estimated 7 pounds (give or take a half pound in either direction).  I will go back on Friday if he hasn't made is grand entrance yet.  I never made it to get my special cream cheese today-Jay was in a rush to get to work.  I will get it Friday for sure if we don't have any baby action.  The cafe where it is sold just isn't located in the best area of the city and they have like 0 parking.

39 Weeks & 6 days (HFS!!)

So yeah, 39 weeks and 6 days.  That means 1 more days till my estimated due date.  Are you serious?  Where has the time gone?  And I thought I was going to maybe go like a week early.  Haha!  No such luck!

I am doing this post today in case I go into labor today or tonight and I am unable to do it tomorrow (as if that's really going to happen).  A girl can dream, can't she?  I would LOVE to have this little guy on 1-11.  What a cool birthday that would be.  1-11-12.  I always liked the date since my estimated due date with big sister was 2-22.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at 8am for a Non-Stress test, Ultrasound & then appointment with my doctor.  Hopefully all will be well.  Hopefully on the way in I have time to stop at Eric's for his famous labor inducing cream cheese.  I had an appointment on my EDD with Savannah and we stopped for cream cheese then too.  I went into labor over night that night.  It's worth a try right!

Mr. Man's Room

So Shane's nursery is pretty much all done.  I still want to get a shelf to go on the same the wall down by the closet/nightstand.  They have a beautiful red one at PBK that I LOVE but it is stupid expensive so hopefully it will go on sale.  PBK also has sports balls (baseball, football & basketballs) that I would like to add too.  I had a blast decorating this room and think it came out pretty awesome!  Now all I need is my baby!

39 Weeks & 1 Day

How far along:  39 weeks & 1 day

Size of baby:
Your baby's waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it's likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

Weight gain:  162.4 (up from 160.8 last week-up 32.4 total)

Stretch marks:  None

Belly button:  Very much an outie

Sleep:  Last week sleep was getting "better" but this week I am back to being an insomniac.  It really sucks seeing every hour go by on the clock at night.

Best Moment of the Week:  It was so nice to have Jay home with Savannah and I on Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday & Monday.  He is now back to work until the baby decides the time is right.  Hopefully soon!  I went for a pedicure on Tuesday so my toes are ready.

Movement:  Over the past 4 days his movement has REALLY slowed down.  He still moves 5-6 separate times during the day but the periods are short.

Symptoms:  Same as the last couple of weeks.  Very tired, thirsty & generally uncomfortable.  I am looking forward to not having this big belly on the front of me.

Food cravings/Aversions:  Nothing new to report.

Gender:  BOY

What I miss:  Sleep and just feeling comfortable

Looking forward to:  I am still looking forward to L & D.  I just want to meet my baby boy.  I am so excited to see what he looks like and have him safe and sound in our arms!

Dreams:  Still nothing
