What Shane has been up to

So Shane is now 14 months old and such a BOY!  He is into everything and anything he can get his hands on.  He loves to pull the pots & pans out in the kitchen and use the lids as cymbals!  I swear he is going to crack the tile floor one of these days.

And....he is WALKING!!!  He started taking 2-3 steps a few months ago but would only walk when he wanted to.  He would walk most when we were not looking.  The more you would encourage him, the less he would walk.  Silly boy!  But look at him now!  This video was taken yesterday afternoon.

Weekend Recap

We had a super fun, laid back family weekend.  We started the weekend early with a snow day on Friday!  I am not sure why, but I thought we were only expecting 6-8 inches of snow but we ended up with almost 2 feet!  PLEASE let this be our last storm of the year!  C'mon spring!

The weather for the remainder of the weekend couldn't have been better.  It was super sunny and the temperatures were up near 50!  We went for a short walk with the kids in the new wagon they got for Christmas.

Our neighbor made this awesome snowman & we just had to have our picture taken with it!

On Sunday we went out to run a few errands after Shane's morning nap & lunch.  We brought Shane to get his first haircut at Snip Its.  It's the most adorable kids salon.  They give you a first haircut certificate with a little lock of hair.  Shane sat perfectly still the whole time!

My boy looking all fresh & handsome!

Then we hopped over to the mall to have pictures with the Easter Bunny!  Shane didn't really like the bunny too much.  It was so funny!  Right after the picture Shane got this scared look on his face and was pushing the bunny's hand off of him.

We finished off the weekend eating some yummy take-out with Jay's parents.  Back at it tomorrow!

Kids Party

On February 10th we had a combined birthday party for the kids.  It was Savannah's 5th & Shane's 1st Birthday.  Since we were expecting about 50 people (with a bunch of crazy kids) we decided that we shouldn't have the party at our house.  We were going to rent a hall again but then we came up with the idea of having the party in Jay's grandparent's basement.  It worked out perfectly!

I forgot my camera battery at home on the charger!  HUGE Mommy fail!  I was so upset.  Thankfully my brother in law brought his camera.  He sent me these pictures this past week.

I wish we had more pictures to remember the kid's special day.  We didn't get only of their balloons, centerpeices & decorations, our guests or the food tables.  Oh well!  We had a wonderful day.

Allergy Results

Shane's doctor called last night to say that he tested negative for a milk allergy but positive for nut.  They also tested him for soy, wheat, egg white & yoke and they were all negative.  They also ran a test to see how allergic he is (not to the nuts but in general) and this came back negative.  Dr M. said that this could very well be a false positive especially because we have no family history of nut allergies.  She consulted with a Pedi Allergist who said both Shane & I (because he is still nursing) can't have any nuts.  Whomp whomp whomp!  I love nuts and eat them often.  For the record Shane hasn't had nuts directly that we are aware of.

So the plan is to retest him at his 18 month well check and if he were to test positive again he would need to see an allergist for further testing.  Because both him & I will not be eating nuts between then and now I guess it isn't likely to have another false positive.

I am going to go cry now because I just bought a monster bag of organic cashews on Sunday and I can't eat them.

Blood Test

This morning I had to bring my little buddy for a blood test.  His doctor suspects that he may have a milk allergy.  I guess she thinks he may be allergic to something in milk that is causing his eczema.  She said that people can have two different types of allergies with milk.  The first (most common) would result in belly pain & bloody diapers.  The second would result in a skin rash like Shane's.  I am really hoping Shane doesn't have an allergy.  It would mean no regular (pasteurized) milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese or ice cream.  All of those things are Shane's favorites.

I was really dreading this appointment.  I figured he would freak out so I made the appointment for when Savannah would be at school.  It would absolutely break her heart to see her brother upset like I was expecting.  Knowing her she would probably kick the phlebotomist in the shins!  Lol!  But my boy was a super star!  They had to stick him twice and HE DIDN'T CRY AT ALL!!!  He was absolutely amazing!  I am so proud of him.  I was also happy because the waiting room is right next to where the chair and there was a little girl there, about 3, who was up next.  She kept telling her Mommy that she was scared for her turn.  This was really pulling on my heart string!  So I was so happy Shane didn't get upset since it would have scared that little angel even more.
