My poor sweet baby girl has been so sick since Friday with the virus from HELL. I am telling you I have never seen anything affect her like this before. She woke up on Friday morning with a stuffy nose and a slight fever. As the day went on she got worse and worse -her fever went higher and higher. We were giving her Children's Advil every 6 hours but by the 5 hour mark she was on the steady rise again. So this went on until Sunday night when her temp spiked to 105.7. We called the on call Pedi for the second time. They told us to put her in a warm tub (water doesn't have to be cool since you basically just want to have the water evaporate off the skin and that itself will cool the body temp) & give her Advil again. So this is what we did and her temp went down 3 degrees in 20 minutes (if this didn't happen we were going to be off to the ER). We were back in business of being able to control her fever.
We were given a appointment with her PCP at 10am on Monday morning. She wasn't really eating or drinking much but on assessment she looked fairly well. She was weighted at the appointment and is 36.6 pounds. Her throat looked red so they did a throat culture. The culture came back negative so I assume she was red due to breathing through her mouth because her sinuses were blocked. They did a finger stick (fun time) to check her CBC which was slightly elevated but on track for a viral infection. They wanted a urine sample but she had not peed since 7am that morning. So they sent us on our way saying she was alright but to keep pushing fluids.
By Monday night at 8pm she STILL had not peed and really wasn't eating or drinking anything. I was offering her everything under the sun and she wouldn't take anything. I called the ON CALL again and we were sent to the ER. I guess they don't want to see kids go more than 4-6 hours without peeing. So we check in at the ER at 9:30pm and sat in the waiting area until 11pm. The waiting area was a post all in itself. OMG people are weird!!! So we go into our room in the PEDI ER and sit for another half hour before the doctor comes in. Savannah and I were in the bathroom when the doc came in. By the grace of GOD she peed! I was so happy! The doc (who was older than a dinosaur) examined her and said she wasn't dehydrated, keep pushing fluids and call her PCP in the AM.
We got home from the hospital at 1:30am and were all in bed by 2am. At 2:30am Savannah woke up with a fever of 103.5 (are you f'ing kidding me!!!) We gave her more Advil, put her on the toilet and she peed again! YAY!!!
We put her back to bed at 3am but of course I couldn't sleep because I had to keep checking on her every half hour. I am a "what if" person very bad. Like VERY BAD.
-What if she stops breathing in her sleep (even though her lungs were clear)
-What if the Advil didn't bring down her fever this time and she had a seizure
So another night goes by with me getting about 2 hours sleep.
Savannah slept from 3am until 9am. I called her PEDI and spoke with one of the nurses Tuesday morning to follow up from our ER visit. Let me just remind you that I am 37 weeks pregnant, hormonal, I haven't slept more than 15 hours total in the past 4 nights & I have been taking care of my VERY sick child for the past 4 days. The nurse kept telling me that if she didn't pee again soon we would have to bring her BACK to the ER again! The nurse kept telling me "you need to get her to drink". I freaking know I NEED to get her to drink but I offered her a hundred different drinks and she refused. I have tried straws, syringes, little cups. She refuses EVERYTHING. I lost it with her at this point because I was getting her to eat apple sauce & watermelon but the nurse didn't seem to be impressed. I figured that was better than nothing (which it was-she was just kinda a B****). I stared crying on the phone telling her we were not going back to the ER because they were not going to do anything for her. They didn't want to give her IV fluids or a cath since she did pee. They checked her skin, in her mouth & said her teary eyes were all signs that she wasn't dehydrated. At this time I insisted that the nurse have Savannah's PCP call me because I didn't need her telling me I "needed to get her to take fluids". How do I force a 3 year old to drink??
In the mean time Jay's grandparents went to the store for me and got blueberries & strawberries. I made myself a bowl of corn & rice chex cereal to eat while I was trying to force watermelon down Savannah's throat. Sav takes one look at my bowl and says she wants it. So I end up getting her to eat most of it (it also had milk). I was so sooooooo exicted you have no idea!!! An hour or so later I had her sit on the toilet and she peed!!! I was beyond thrilled!!! As the afternoon went on she ended up eating 4 100% juice Popsicles. She then peed again a few hours later. It was like a Christmas miracle! She took a 2 hour nap this afternoon and ate another bowl of cereal with berries & 3oz of milk at dinner. After dinner she peed again so I collected this urine and brought it to the doctor this morning. They tested it and said she wasn't dehydrated and was clear for a UTI.
So far today (it's 12:45pm) she has peed twice since sh woke up at 9am. Other than a VERY sore and cracked nose she is doing very well. Her appetite is slowly returning so we are letting her eat anything she wants. She will go to nap at 2pm and hopefully peed before bed. I called her out of school for tomorrow so she can rest up and she has school vacation next week.
I pray to God that Jay and I don't get this sickness. It has just been awful! Hopefully the rest of our winter will be healthier but I am sure Sav will bring something else home from school before the Spring. Ahhhhhh the joy's of school!

36 Weeks
How far along: 36 Weeks
Size of baby:
Maternity clothes: Yup. I have a new robe for the hospital, ordered two nursing sleep bras, slippers & capri yoga pants this week for the hospital. I would like to pack my hospital bag as much as I can soon.
Weight gain: 158.8 (up from 158.6 from last week)
Stretch marks: None
Belly button: Very much an outie
Sleep: Still awful!
Best Moment of the Week: At my appointment yesterday I was told I didn't gain ANY weight within the past two weeks. I have gained about 1lb per my home scale. I had the Group B test done and also a STD test done so we can pass on the eye ointment at birth. On exam I was 1cm but cervix is still "fairly hard".
Movement: Still very active. It's funny to watch my belly move in all kinds of crazy ways.
Symptoms: Same as last week. Very thirsty, unable to sleep & always using the bathroom.
Food cravings/Aversions: For the past week I have been craving coffee from the coffee house. Any coffee house really-as long as it is yummy store bought coffee. I get one pretty much anytime I leave the house. I get decaf unless it's early in the morning which is only weekends when I can talk Jay into getting it for me.
Gender: BOY
What I miss: Sleeping & having energy
Looking forward to: I will be so happy when my boy is with us & I know he is healthy. I really want to see what he looks like. I wonder if he will look like is sister or not. I know I am a little partial but she was a beautiful newborn. I will have to try and find a few pictures.
Dreams: Nope
Other stuff: We got the gear out of the attic last weekend. I washed up all of the fabric pieces today. It is very strange to see all the stuff again after 3 1/2 years. Savannah is having a great time with everything and her dolls. She thinks we got her a bunch of new toys!
Size of baby:
She's still in the 17.2- to 18.7-inch and 4.2- to 5.8-pound range and continues to beef up.
- He's getting closer and closer to being able to breathe on his own.
- His skin is getting smooth and soft and his gums are rigid.
- His liver and kidneys are in working order.
- Circulation and immune systems are basically good to go, too.

35 Weeks (and 1 day)
How far along: 35 weeks and 1 day
Size of baby: Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete – he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
Maternity clothes: I will just say that I freaking LOVE the person at Old Navy who came up with Yoga pants in long. BEST THING EVER WHILE PREGGO!!! And see my previous post about my new dress!!!
Weight gain: As of today I am up to 158.6 (up from 158.4 last week). I am happy with the small gain. Looks like the "reasonable eating" has paid off this past week.
Stretch marks: Still nothing and I hope it stays that way
Belly button: Jay refers to it as my 3rd nipple that's how much of an outie it is! It totally pokes through my shirt!
Sleep: VERY SORE SUBJECT Go to bed at 9:30-10ish and get up for the day at 6:30. I sleep for about 1-2 hours and then I am up every hour. I don't wake up to pee but since I wake I get up - to go. It totally sucks and I hate that I can't sleep! I even took a nap one afternoon this week.
Best Moment of the Week: Just knowing that my boy is cooking away and plumping up. I want him nice and healthy when he is born. But just in case he reads my blog: Shane-You are more then welcome to come anytime you feel ready as long as it is after Christmas.
Movement: He is slowing down a little but still fairly active. When he moves...he moves!
Symptoms: Can't sleep, always peeing, drinking water and milk like it's going out of style & acid reflux like you read about!!!
Food cravings/Aversions: No aversions to speak of but I have been craving Stonyfield Chocolate Underground yogurt. OMG it is so good! Since I have started to keep track of everything I eat I swore off sweets (a huge weakness). So now when I want something sweet I have a chocolate yogurt or a glass of Ovaltine.
Gender: BOY
What I mess: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Looking forward to: Meeting my baby boy
Dreams: You gotta sleep to have dreams and I ain't sleeping!

New dress
I am so excited about a new dress I got today while at the mall. I have kinda been thinking about what the heck I am going to wear to a family Christmas party on the 17th & Christmas Eve. I didn't want to buy anything new since I only have 5 weeks left and will only be wearing it 1-2 times. However.....today when I was at the mall I found this awesome dress (on sale from $35 to $25) so I gave it a try. OMG I freaking LOVE it! I am going to wear it with my high black boots! It is probably the worlds most comfortable dress (made of that wash & wear fabric). In this dress I feel like the cute pregnant girl that I have ALWAYS wanted to be! I seriously feel like a million bucks in it.
Now I wouldn't think by this online picture that this would be something I would fall in love with. I don't think I would even order it. Let me tell you....it's amazing! Jay has a gray and a purple dress shirt so hopefully I can talk him into wearing either of those so we match! Can you tell I am excited about this??? Haha! It just fits me perfect and makes my bump look like a big old basketball!

Me, myself & I
I am a Type A personality.
I am super organized.
I make lists to remind myself to make lists.
I have a special place in the cabinets for groceries.
I like when the light switches are all going the same direction.
I do have a special place in my super organized closet for every piece of clothing.
My refrigerator is spotless and tidy.
I load the dishwasher in a certain way.
I always have to make my bed.
I fold the hand towel in the bathroom a certain way. My husband can't for the life of him figure it out and it drives me bonkers.
Shoes are not allowed inside the house.
I am anal about all of these things. As the years go on it is getting worse. I really wish I could help it but I can't. I am freaking out about how I am going to be able to keep up with everything after this new baby is here. I HAVE to learn to let things go. I HAVE to learn to let things go. If not, I will surely loose my mind.
