October Snow Storm

So last Saturday, the 29th, we had a HUGE snow storm.  This is fairly early for snow in our area and with most trees still having leaves it cause MAJOR problems.  Problems as in we were out of power for 5 days again (just like 2 months ago with hurricane Irene).  Luckily we have a generator but it still got old fast.  Many people we know are still without power and the storm was 1 week ago today.  I don't know how anyone with young children could be without a generator.  We purchased ours during the ice storm of 2008 when S was only 6 months old.  We were out then for 5 days also.  We figured we may never use it again but it was the responsible thing to do.  We are able to power our whole house (although not everything at the same time) other than out dishwasher & oven.  So I was able to have warm showers, we watched dvd's (cable was out) and most importantly we had heat.  A HUGE tree fell across the road and took down our powerlines.

My hanging baskets made it through the storm

I just did my fall window boxes last weekend.
Looks like it time for the Christmas ones already!

Not only were we without power for 5 days
but our road was also closed.

S had fun playing in the snow!

29 Weeks

How far along:  29 Weeks (only 11 weeks to go!!!)

Size of Baby:
*Your baby is growing rapidly now. This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain – which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.
*Baby already measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long. Right now, we weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds but he's still got a ways to go -- can you believe he'll triple in weight before birth?  He's getting a little cramped in there, since he's growing so fast. But you probably already realize that, since you're getting all those jabs and kicks.  He's growing white fat deposits under his skin, and his energy is surging because of it.  Feel a subtle twitch? It might be baby hiccupping.
Maternity Clothes:   Regular yoga pants & a few regular cami's but mostly all maternity

Weight Gain:  Up 3.4 since last week-YIKES!  Up 22.8 total

Stretch Marks:  Still nothing (knock on wood)

Belly Button:  Full on outie

Sleep:  I have been waking up with a stuff nose all week.  By the time I make it into the bathroom in the middle of the night & pee my nose has loosened up a bit and I am able to blow it clear.  After I lay back down I am all stuffed up again within a matter of 10 minutes.  My sinuses my be draining and when I lay down it stops.  I have tried to sleep slightly elevated but it bothers my neck.

Best Moment of the Week:  I know I say this all the time but with every week that goes by I feel more at ease that god forbid I go into early labor hopefully everything will be OK.  I don't know why but early labor has always been a HUGE fear for me.  I don't deal well under heavy stress so  I would probably fall apart if something bad were to happen.

Movement:  This little man is so active.  His jabs actually hurt sometimes.  I never experienced that with Savannah.  I am interested to know what position he is in.  I will ask at my appointment next week.

Symptoms:  Nothing new to report.  My heartburn is so bad lately.  It doesn't start acting up until a few hours after I have eaten.  It is usually on in the evenings just in time for bed.  If this baby comes out bald I will be SHOCKED!

Food cravings/Aversions:  Nothing new to report

Gender:  Sweet little baby boy

What I miss:  I am always tired and I have a very hard time picking things up off the floor.

Looking Forward to:  Our Maternity Pictures were canceled for last weekend.  The photographer's studio is in her home and her daughter was just diagnosed with pink eye.  We decided it was best to push our session off a weeks since I was bringing Savannah for a few shots & I am pregnant.  So I am looking forward to our appointment this Saturday!

28 Weeks & Third Trimester

How far along: 28 weeks & happy 3rd trimester to me!  Holy cow this has gone by so fast!

Size of Baby:
*Putting on layers of fat, your baby now weighs in around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and measures about 13.6 to 14.8 inches.
*By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
*Welcome to the third trimester! Moms-to-be who are at 28 weeks and beyond are known for their lack of sleep. Remember if you find yourself up in the middle of the night, do something relaxing. This is not the time to vacuum the house from top to bottom -- even though you might feel the urge to do that at some point. Read a book, drink chamomile tea, listen to soothing music. Then try to get back to bed and get some rest! Being in the third trimester also means much of your and baby’s anatomy are ready to go -- she's prepping for breathing, and your breasts already have colostrum, which is what baby will eat the first few days until your milk comes in. You’ll also start feeling more Braxton Hicks contractions as your body gets ready for labor. Baby will keep getting bigger -- and smarter -- after week 28, and other than that, she just needs a few more finishing touches.

Maternity Clothes:   Pretty much

Weight Gain: Down .2 from last week.  Today at my doctors appointment I was up 4 pounds since my last appointment 5 weeks ago.

Stretch Marks:  Still nothing (knock on wood)

Belly Button:  "Open"

Sleep:  A tad better this past week.  Savannah is still getting up at 6:30am but a few times I haven't woken up after falling asleep at about 10pm until 6am.  I could still use another hour or so to sleep but I will take what I can get!

Best Moment of the Week:  Entering into the 3rd and final trimester!

Movement:  I am not sure if it is just my lack of memory but this little guys seems to be more active than his big sister was.  He goes through his "sleep" periods but then he has his "off the wall times".  He is far more active after dinner until bed than the rest of the day.

Symptoms:  Nothing new other than I had a bloody nose two night that lasted just over an hour.  I didn't think it was EVER going to stop.  Within the next few weeks we are having a humidifier put into our heating system so hopefully this helps.  We haven't even turned on the heat yet!
Food cravings/Aversions:  Nothing new to report

Gender:  Sweet little baby boy

What I miss:

Looking Forward to:  I booked maternity pictures for this Sunday.  I know I am a little early but I stared swelling at the end with Savannah so I would like to have pictures taken w/o a big puffy face.  I feel HUGE but pretty much just in my belly area.  I want to look "good" in my pictures and not tired and run down.

Weekly Wisdom:  "This is just a phase".  Referring to Savannah's early wake up times and crabby moods since we have changed her bed.  I visited the library yesterday and took out "The Hap.piest Tod.dler on the Blo.ck" for a little advice.  Hope it helps!  Savannah asked why we were going to the library today and I told her it was to get a book to help me teach her how to not act naughty sometimes.  Her response was "Mom, just take away my Hannah".  Hannah is her favorite teddy bear that she picked out for her brother but will NEVER make it to him.  Hannah has been her BFF since she was purchased the day after we found out what we were having.

Milestones:  Entering into the third and final trimester of my last ever pregnancy (tear)

Dreams:  None

Today I had my 28 week appointment.  Not too much to report.  I had all the usual done (weight, urine & blood pressure) along with the 1 hour glucolse tolerance test and rhogam shot.  From now on I will start going for monitoring every two weeks!  Wow!  These weeks are really flying by!

Our weekend

We had a very busy weekend this weekend and my baby girl came down with a head cold & fever.  Let me tell you something.  This child is so incredibly moody when she doesn't feel well.  OMG it's awful!!!  Here are a few pictures from our weekend.

27 Weeks & Nursery Pictures

How far along: 27 weeks
I was reading something this morning that said "during your third trimester (which begins next week!)" and I thought "Holy freaking crap!!!".  Third trimester already???

Size of Baby:
*At 13.6 to 14.8 inches and 1.5 to 2.5 pounds, she's not just getting bigger, she's getting smarter.
*This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.
*At the end of the second trimester, your baby measures about 14 inches and weighs between 2-2 1/2 pounds, having doubled her weight in a month. Her brain tissue continues to develop folds and grooves on what was once a smooth surface. Even though she's bigger, she still has plenty of room to flip around, so whatever position she's in right now will likely shift over the next three months.
The eyelids have opened, and she'll try to shield her light-sensitive eyes with her hands if a fetoscope with a light is shone inside the uterus. If born now, your baby would most likely survive with medical help, with a 50% chance of no serious complications. Less than 10 weeks before she's considered full term - hang in there!

Maternity Clothes:   Everything but PJ's and a few shirts

Weight Gain:  18 so far.  Not gonna lie-starting to freak out with the holidays coming.  MUST HAVE SELF CONTROL

Stretch Marks:  None as of yet but I haven't been very good with the coco butter this time around.  When I lotion up it leaves my skin feeling a little sticky and I don;t like getting dressed cause my clothes feel weird.  I know I just need to deal with it and lube up the ole bump.  I don't know if the lotion really works or not but I don't want to be sorry.

Belly Button:  "Open"  Savannah says to me this week "Hey Mommy, why does you belly button look like that???"  Haha!

Sleep:  Ugh!  The transition from crib to bed wasn't an easy one for my little princess.  She reused to nap in her bed so on the third day of having the bed we had to "cry it out" at nap.  It only took an hour but I refused to give up.  Every time she would get out I would put her back in.  Finally it worked.  THEN she went from sleeping till 8:30am-9:30am to getting up at 6:30am then 5:30am then 4:30am.  I was ready to loose my freaking mind.  So we started putting her to bed at 8pm (rather than 7) and fr the past 3 mornings she has slept till 7am.  It's wonderful-only problem is that I wake at 4am and can't really go back to sleep because I am listening for her (she has a bell on her door so we hear the jingle when she gets up).  Hopefully in another day or so I will feel more at ease.  All in all it took her a solid 2 weeks to get used to her bed.  Now she is napping for 2-3 hours again daily so all is good.

Best Moment of the Week:  Anytime Savannah kisses my belly and says "I love my baby brother Shane"

Movement:  I think we have a kick boxer on our hands!

Symptoms:  All the usual stuff.  Getting more and more tired later in the day.  More and more hungry.  A few backaches.  Acid reflux like every darn day!

Food cravings/Aversions:  Nothing new to report

Gender:  Sweet little baby boy

What I miss:  Unlimited amounts of energy.

Looking Forward to:  Snuggling my baby boy and watching Savannah with him

Weekly Wisdom:  Don't sweat the small stuff

Milestones:  Less than 100 days to go!!!  91ish to be exact.  I go to the doctor next week for my glucose test, 28 week appointment and a Rhogam shot.  It should be a good time!

Dreams:  Nothing

Apple picking 10-9-11

So Shane's nursery is pretty much all set.  I need to make a decision on what I want for picture/pictures to hang over his changing table.  We are going with a sports theme room.  I don;t know if I should get 4 10x10 paintings and place them in a square over the table or get 1 20x30.  After hat I just need to find a few accessories and everything will be set.  Other than that we have everything we need.  I got him a bunch of clothes, diapers, swaddles, hats, burpcloths, bibs, cute little baby socks & blankets.  Prepairing for baby #2 is so much easier.  You know what you "need" and what is a waste.  With Savannah I got EVERYTHING I thought I could ever possible need.  Most of it ended up being a waste.  We are being much more practicle this time around.

I babysat my nephew's this past weekend and I loved all the snuggle time with little Jake!  He is such a chill baby.  I love feeding him!  He is formula fed so I mixed up my first bottle EVER!  Boob is so much easier.

99 Days

99 more days!  Holy crap!  I am not gonna lie-I am freaking out.  How the heck are my going to be able to hand 2 kids?!?!  Some days it sounds "easy" and other days it seems impossible.  I am going to very well loose my mind.  I am just so sure of it.  Especially in the beginning.  What have I done to myself???
